Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains is seeking a Youth Development Professional in Yankton, SD. The role involves positive youth mentoring, designing activities, promoting safe spaces, and building strong relationships with young participants.

You will support social development, behavior management, and collaborative programming while enhancing your skills in supervision and youth services within the Club framework.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Commitment to working four days a week.
• Commitment to accommodate the Club scheduling needs for the upcoming semester and summer hours.
• Must understand and apply behavior management principles per the Club values.
• Must be able to operate in a school-year and summer program timetable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in enforcing rules and mentor youth.
• Oversee daily recreation area operations and safety.
• Organize recreational activities and daily program activities.
• Encourage participation and healthy relationships among members.
• Assess group dynamics and plan activities for positive outcomes.
• Complete paperwork and activity assessments as required.
• Support leadership and teamwork among participants.
• Ensure all activities follow Club policies.
• Maintain safety and security for youth in the facility.
• Attend monthly and biweekly staff meetings.
• Contribute to trimester performance goals and provide daily feedback.
