Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader for before/after school and day camp programs in the Katy, Conroe, and Humble ISD areas. In this part-time role, you will create a safe, engaging environment, lead activities, and support youth development while upholding YMCA values and safety standards.

You will monitor groups, collaborate with families and staff, and participate in training and staff meetings.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment with positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Model YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Maintain a clean, organized program space meeting standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures and vigilant supervision.
