Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for before/after school and day camp programs. The role emphasizes creating a safe, engaging environment, guiding youth with energetic, compassionate leadership, and building positive relationships with families and staff.

The position is part-time with schedules that align with ISD calendars, and may include Saturdays. The YMCA offers benefits including free membership and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in licensed facilities, schools, churches, or similar settings.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations per YMCA policies.
• Lead and adapt engaging activities aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Support daily operations: cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Ensure sign-in/out procedures and vigilant supervision of program areas.
