Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for our before/after school programs and day camps in the Pearland area. This part-time role emphasizes safety, engaging activities, and positive youth development.

You will lead activities, support daily operations, and build strong relationships with children, families, and school staff, all while upholding YMCA values and policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times; monitor activities and conduct headcounts.
• Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead YMCA curriculum through games, projects, and hands-on learning.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Maintain a clean, organized program space meeting standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Follow child-protection policies and supervision procedures.
