Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Youth Development Leader to energize before/after-school and day camps with engaging activities and caring supervision. You will create a safe, inclusive environment that supports learning and growth for diverse youth populations.

Responsibilities include leading activities, ensuring safety, and upholding YMCA values while coordinating with families and staff to enhance program quality and community impact.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in licensed settings or similar environments.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and follow YMCA safety policies.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Model YMCA values and act as a positive role model for children.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe program space.
