Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to foster a safe, engaging environment for before/after-school and day camp programs. You will energize activities, connect with children and families, and uphold the YMCA values while supporting staff and operations.

The role emphasizes supervision, inclusive programming, and collaboration with school staff. Benefits include flexible schedules, training, and opportunities for growth within youth development.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times and follow YMCA policies.
• Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning aligned with the YMCA curriculum.
• Demonstrate YMCA values such as honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Maintain a clean, organized program space meeting standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and the YMCA team.
• Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures and vigilant supervision in all areas.
