Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader to support our before/after school and day camp programs. You will create a safe, engaging space where kids feel valued, learn through play, and build positive relationships with families and staff.

This part-time role requires minimum 18 years old, a high school diploma or GED, and readiness to obtain CPR/First Aid. You’ll work in Katy ISD, Conroe ISD, and Humble ISD locations with a focus on safety, inclusion, and fun.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after school and day camp programs.
• Champion safety and supervision by monitoring activities and conducting headcounts.
• Guide positive behavior using constructive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead age-appropriate activities and adapt to diverse needs.
• Model YMCA values—honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized program space.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and teammates.
• Protect youth by following sign-in/out procedures and supervision policies.
