Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to run before/after school and day camp activities for engaged youth. You’ll create a safe, inclusive space where children learn through play, under supportive supervision and with strong YMCA values.

Responsibilities include leading age-appropriate activities, maintaining safety, and building lasting relationships with families and staff. Flexible part-time schedules align with school calendars.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprints; TB test/immunizations as required by guidelines

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after school and day camp programs.
• Lead activities and games aligned with YMCA curriculum; adapt for diverse needs.
• Maintain safety and supervision; conduct headcounts and follow procedures.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Support daily operations and ensure clean, organized spaces; meet licensing standards.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and teammates.
