Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is looking for a dedicated Youth Development Leader to inspire children in our before/after-school and day camp programs. In this active role, you will create a safe and enriching environment where youth can grow and thrive. You'll utilize your communication skills and experience to engage with children and build meaningful relationships with families.

This position offers flexible hours aligned with school schedules and the opportunity to participate in a mission-driven community that values your growth and impact.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor activities and ensure children's safety.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead engaging activities based on YMCA curriculum.
• Demonstrate YMCA values and model positive behavior.
• Maintain a clean and safe program space.
• Build strong relationships with children and families.
