Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring Youth Development Counselors for our Before/After School Programs serving Katy ISD, Conroe ISD, and Humble ISD. This is a part-time role with a temporary $3.00 per hour stipend in eligible locations.

Join a mission-driven team shaping the next generation through safe, engaging activities, strong supervision, and positive relationship-building with youth and families. Work aligns with ISD calendars and may include Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Maintain safety, supervision, and program space per YMCA policies and licensing standards.
• Lead activities from the YMCA curriculum and adapt them to diverse needs.
• Model YMCA values in daily interactions with youth and families.
• Support daily operations and keep spaces clean, organized, and compliant.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Protect youth by following all child-protection policies and proper sign-in/out procedures.
