Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of King County on Mercer Island seeks a Youth Development Professional to support Club Leadership and deliver safe, engaging programs in Gym, Learning Center, and Computer Lab. This part-time role (<30 hours/week) requires energy, maturity and strong boundaries with youth, parents and staff.

The YDP will help prepare youth for success, maintain facilities, track attendance and behavior, and deliver High Yield Learning Activities while collaborating with families. Participation requires HS diploma, 18+ years old, background checks, TB test, and safety trainings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with a non-profit youth development agency; BGCA experience preferred.
• HS diploma required to work in a licensed program.
• Must be 18+ to work in a licensed program.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Understanding of youth development principles and ability to motivate youth positively.
• Collaborate with Clubs, Sites and Community Partners.
• Learn and support new ideas for the Club.
• Model strengths-based problem solving, goal setting and study skills.
• Experience working with diverse cultures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaged presence to prepare youth for success and create a safe Club environment.
• Ensure facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
• Assist with planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs.
• Collect and track attendance, coursework and behavior data.
• Model mature work behaviors for a productive environment.
• Set up and clean program areas daily.
• Assist in facilitation of BGCA core programs and HYLAs.
• Maintain member confidentiality during and after employment.
• Affirm positive behavior and deliver coaching when needed.
• Build partnerships with parents and families.
• Develop programs supporting healthy lifestyles, good character and academic success.
