Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead afterschool and camp programs, ensuring high-quality experiences that support youth growth and well-being.

You will manage operations across multiple sites, hire and develop staff, ensure state and YMCA safety standards, and collaborate with school partners and families to expand access and impact in the Austin community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, education, child development, or related field is required.
• HHSC Program Director certification is required or must be obtained.
• CPR and First Aid certification at hire or soon after.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily program operations across multiple sites with safety and compliance.
• Hire, coach, and manage direct reports; conduct regular check-ins and development.
• Develop staff through training and mentoring; monitor scheduling and payroll within budgets.
• Build relationships with principals, parents, staff, participants, and licensing reps.
