Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a seasonal, part-time Assistant Site Lead to support daily program operations at elementary school sites across Austin, Texas. You will work closely with the Site Lead to ensure a safe, engaging afterschool program for children ages 4–12, and you may serve as acting Site Director when needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends for events and trainings.
• Must meet Texas Child Care Licensing requirements: at least 30 hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership, or management.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare setting, or equivalent coursework in child development.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Lead in daily program operations, ensuring a safe, organized, and engaging environment.
• Help guide Youth Development Leaders, fostering a collaborative, positive team culture.
• Step into full site leadership in the Site Lead’s absence, ensuring licensing compliance and program continuity.
• Supervise a group of 12–17 youth while supporting ratios and active supervision.
• Deliver and support curriculum including enrichment activities, academic support, and physical activity.
• Build relationships with families and assist in communication, including planning and hosting family nights and events.
