Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking an Assistant Teacher at Whitman Elementary in Spokane, WA. The role supports inclusive learning and fosters relationships with children, families, and the community.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with preference for an Early Childhood Education Certificate. You will work under the Lead Teacher to ensure safety, adherence to licensing, and engaging activities daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preference for Early Childhood Education Certificate.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Negative TB test within the past 6 months and MMR vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate positive relationships with children, families and staff.
• Supervise and nurture children in purposeful programming.
• Adhere to DCYF Licensing and YMCA standards as directed.
• Maintain program records and support observations/evaluations.
• Attend family nights, trainings, and staff meetings.
