Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking a Lead Teacher - ECC in Spokane, WA. The role directs the classroom, designs creative activities, and builds trust with youth and families, aligning with YMCA values. It requires DCYF licensing familiarity, safety compliance, and ongoing communication with caregivers.

Qualifications

• Must have, or be willing to receive, Early Childhood Education Certificate within 5 years of hire.
• Experience working with children in a developmental, diverse setting is required.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities
• TB test in last 6 months and MMR vaccination required prior to first day
• DCYF MERIT, Blood Borne Pathogens, portable background check applications required on first day
• Within 30 days: 30 Hours Basic Training or Educational Exemption
• ADA familiarity and commitment to inclusion under the YMCA
• Ability to build positive relationships across diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Cultivate positive relationships with children and families.
• Lead classroom with supervision, engaging, and purposeful programming.
• Comply with licensing and YMCA standards; ensure safety and procedures.
• Observe and evaluate children; maintain program records as needed.
• Communicate with parents about child progress; conduct family conferences.
• Maintain clean, organized learning environment and equipment.
• Participate in family nights, staff meetings, and training.
• Demonstrate YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
