Job summary

The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Early Child Care (ECC) in Spokane, WA. This part-time role supports inclusive learning environments and helps children build lasting relationships with peers and the community.

Responsibilities include supervising in classrooms, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with observations and record-keeping. Requires High School Diploma and preferably an Early Childhood Education Certificate; trainings listed in the job

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent minimum requirements.
• Early Childhood Education Certificate preferred.
• Experience with children in developmental/diverse settings is preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Must complete required trainings and certifications on hire (TB test, MMR, background check).
• ADA compliance and inclusivity understanding is expected.
• Ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Assist in classrooms by supervising, engaging, and nurturing children.
• Ensure compliance with Washington state licensing, Early Achievers, and YMCA standards.
• Assist with observations and maintain required records.
• Maintain clean and organized classroom and equipment.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
