  • Building / Construction
  • Electrical
  • Welding
  • Electrical Engineering

Each Youth Apprentice is hired into and trained within one department and works under close supervision from experienced nVent team members.

This paid position is built for individuals aged 16 and older, including high school students and recent graduates, who are passionate about pursuing a career in construction. At nVent, we strictly adhere to safety regulations and ensure an encouraging, collaborative environment.

What you will learn and do:

Depending on the department hired into, Youth Apprentices will be trained to:

  • Support electrical assembly work such as installing components, routing cable, or assisting electricians (training provided).
  • Assist welding or fabrication teams with material preparation, positioning, grinding, or finishing tasks.
  • Support electrical engineering teams with entry level tasks such as document organization, testing support, or observing design and build processes.
  • Learn to safely measure, mark, cut, drill, fasten, or assemble materials.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly (training provided).
  • Follow work instructions, basic drawings, and verbal direction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all nVent safety requirements, OSHA guidelines, and PPE expectations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum age: 16 years old
  • High school student, recent graduate, or youth seeking entry-level work experience.
  • Interest in construction.
  • Willingness to learn, adhere to guidelines, and work safely.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work respectfully as part of a team.
  • Basic math and measurement skills, or openness to learning.
  • No previous experience required - on-the-job training is provided.
Physical Requirements:

This role involves hands-on work in a construction environment. Youth Apprentices must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb as required by job tasks.
  • Lift and carry materials up to 30-50 pounds, with assistance as needed.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Work in environments with noise, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
Schedule & Work Environment:
  • Paid, entry-level employment.
  • Part-time and/or full-time hours available depending on department needs.
  • Work schedules may be coordinated with school commitments where applicable.
  • All job duties align with applicable youth labor and safety regulations.
