Job summary

nVent is seeking a Fabrication Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will operate fabricating machines to produce world‑class components and support a safe, efficient production environment.

You will read shop orders, set up for correct lengths, perform routine machine maintenance, and handle materials with forklifts and cranes. The role offers a collaborative, innovative culture with an emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 months of related experience or training.

Summary: As a Fabrication Operator at nVent Management Company, you will play a crucial role in manufacturing. You will ensure world-class products by skillfully operating fabricating machines. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to work with modern machinery in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Read shop work orders to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Understand bend allowances, thickness tolerances, and machine tonnage requirements
  • Set stops or guides to specified length using scale, rule, or template
  • Perform minor daily and weekly machine maintenance including oiling machines, refilling fluids, and general cleaning
  • Operate all material handling equipment including forklifts, jib cranes, and vacuum lifters
  • Rivet and spot weld work pieces
  • Endeavor to build a work environment that is enjoyable, fosters pride in the product, and focuses on the customer
Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Ability
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Math Ability
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills
  • Limited to manufacturing equipment operation, online safety training, ERP system, and HRIS platform (Training will be provided)
