Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program at Sterling. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.

Position offers part-time hours: mornings and after-school, with shifts 6:30am-8:00am and 2:30pm-6:30pm, Monday through Friday. You will supervise children, plan daily activities, and work closely with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-to-middle-aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.

Compensation: $15 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

• Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and or
• After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm
