Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program in Sterling. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment. Location: YMCA at Sterling.

Compensation: $15 per hour. Schedule: Monday-Friday, Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm, part-time during the school year.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support
• Maintain communication with families and program staff
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
