Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring a Senior Group Leader for our School Age Child Care program at KIPP DC sites in the DC area. This part-time role supports before and after school care with mornings and evenings during the school year.

You’ll lead age 3–10 activities, design routines, mentor other leaders, and communicate with families. CPR/First Aid preferred; HS diploma required; free YMCA membership included.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with children ages 3–10 in licensed or educational settings.
• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood coursework preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for children of all abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
• Design lesson plans and classroom routines that spark curiosity and learning
• Mentor and support Group Leaders in their daily responsibilities
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families and leadership
• Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior to ensure a thriving environment
• Build meaningful, trusting relationships with young children

Location: YMCA at KIPP DC (various locations)
Compensation: $18.40 - $23.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

• Monday–Friday
• Before Care: 6:30am–8:00am (optional)
• After Care: 2:30pm–6:30pm
