Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Group Leader for School Age Programs at YMCA at Calomiris. This part-time role supports before and after school activities and helps deliver engaging curriculum, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and youth development.

Compensation is $18.40–$20.00 per hour, with mornings and early evenings during the school year. Benefits include retirement contributions, YMCA membership, professional development, and a collaborative mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain CDA within 18 months.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Documentation of physical exam and TB test.
• Ability to pass required background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oversight of daily program activities and communication with families.
• Support and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Establish routines and behavior expectations for children.
• Ensure safety and well-being of all participants, including emergency procedures.
• Communicate routinely and professionally with parents and families.
• Participate in events and family engagement activities throughout the year.

About the Position

We are seeking fun, enthusiastic, and committed Group Leaders to support our before and after school programs. Group Leaders assist the Site Director with daily program operations, and help plan and deliver engaging activities that align with the YMCA School Age Curriculum.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead activities that spark creativity, encourage teamwork, support learning, and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment for all children.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring

• Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) within 18 months of employment.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Documentation of physical exam and TB test.
• Ability to pass required background screenings.
• Positive, creative attitude and the ability to relate to children, families, and school staff.

• Monday-Friday
• Before Care6:30am-8:00am and or
• After Care2:30pm-6:30pm
