Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking Senior Group Leaders for the School Age program at the Sterling location. This part-time role focuses on creating a positive environment for early learners while supporting and guiding other staff, with afternoon/evening hours and before/after care slots.

Responsibilities include leading activities for ages 3-10, designing age-appropriate lesson plans, mentoring Group Leaders, and maintaining clear communication with families and site leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with children ages 3-6 in a licensed or educational setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood coursework strongly preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise engaging activities for students age 3-10yrs old
• Design developmentally appropriate lesson plans and routines
• Provide mentorship and support to Group Leaders
• Communicate clearly with families and site leadership
• Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children
