Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring dedicated Group Leaders for the School Age Child Care program at KIPP DC locations. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.

You will supervise activities, plan daily lessons, support social-emotional and academic growth, and work with families and staff to ensure safety and well-being. Part-time mornings/afternoons, with school-year schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) at start.
• Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
• Experience fostering an inclusive environment for children of all abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.

Location:

YMCA at KIPP DC (various locations)

Compensation:

$18.40 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

• Monday-Friday
• Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and or
• After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm
