Job summary

YMCA Chicago is seeking a Swim Instructor to join our team in Crystal Lake. This role offers flexible hours, all ages welcomed, and training provided. Starting pay is $18.00 per hour with free YMCA membership.

You’ll teach swim skills to kids and adults, delivering quality instruction and outstanding customer service to members and guests. This position emphasizes safety and community impact while offering growth opportunities within the YMCA.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certifications or completion of YMCA Aquatics Academy.
• Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide high-quality instruction.
• Meets physical qualifications required for certification.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Current certification YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certification or must successfully complete the YMCA’s Aquatics Academy training program resulting in certification
• Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide a high-quality of instruction using age-appropriate practices
• Meets physical qualifications required for certification in job

Child Abuse Prevention - Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children

• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
