Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Swim Instructor to join our team and become a community hero! In this role, you will teach swim skills to children and adults, helping them gain confidence in the water while providing excellent service to members and guests.

The position offers great pay starting at $18.00/hour, flexible hours, and no prior experience required as free training and certification will be provided. Ideal candidates should have a passion for working with diverse individuals and must be at least 15 years old.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Current certifications or completion of YMCA’s Aquatics Academy training program.
• Passion for working with youth and high-quality instruction.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Current certification YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certification or must successfully complete the YMCA’s Aquatics Academy training program resulting in certification.
• Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide a high‑quality of instruction using age‑appropriate practices.
• Meets physical qualifications required for certification in job.

Child Abuse Prevention

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
