Job summary

The Yard Hostler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, staging, and positioning of trailers, tractors, and other equipment within company facilities. This position supports shipping, receiving, dispatch, and maintenance operations by ensuring equipment is properly located, available, and ready for loading, unloading, repair, and transportation activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of yard operations and trailer spotting.
• Ability to communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance staff.
• Ability to identify vehicle defects and report them.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Move and position tractors, trailers, and equipment in yards.
• Spot and dock trailers, verify numbers and seals.
• Coordinate movements with dispatch and drivers.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain organized yard areas and assist with maintenance tasks.
• Prioritize safety and accuracy in paperwork.
