Job summary

FedEx Logistics is seeking a yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between yards and doors, and to assist with loading and sorting packages safely.

You will coordinate with yard management, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and use scanners, carts and other equipment to keep the flow of packages efficient in a high‑volume environment. No previous experience required, six months preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yards and doors and coordinates with management to arrange trailer switches.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Assists with loading/unloading and sorting of packages, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
• Works safely in hot/cold, noisy, or fumes-influenced environments.
