Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines in the United States is seeking a dockworker to safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment in the yard, and to load/unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks. Responsibilities include performing pre/post shift equipment inspections, blocking/bracing loads, and tying down cargo to prevent movement in transit.

The role requires lifting up to 70 lbs, working outdoors in varying weather, and readiness to work night or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must be 17+ years old.
• CDL and acceptable MVR if driving on public roads.
• If CDL holder, registered with FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Experience in transportation is a plus but not required.
• Stable work history.
• Able to operate forklift (7500 lb).
• Capable of pushing/pulling loaded pallet jack or hand truck (70 lbs min).
• Physical abilities include standing, lifting, twisting, climbing stairs, etc.
• May require night/weekend shifts.
• Able to read and comply with safety rules and procedures.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and large equipment in yard.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Cube, load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Load freight to prevent damage by blocking, bracing and load bars/ straps/ dunnage/ airbags.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bar lowered prior to loading.
• Raise and lower landing gear.
• Monitor yard for unsafe drivers and non-employees; notify management.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform all duties of dockworker as requested.
• Communicate effectively with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services personnel.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
