Job summary

Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co Inc in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Yard Administrator to manage clerical and logistics tasks in our busy yard. The role requires organization, attention to detail, and the ability to oversee purchasing, inventory, and shipments.

You will coordinate supplier communications, track inventory levels, and provide administrative support to the yard and shop team while upholding safety policies. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills and solid communication abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is a plus.
• 1–3 years of experience in administrative support, logistics, or yard operations.
• Strong computer skills, specifically with inventory management software, spreadsheets (Very Strong Excel is required), and email.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, and workplace safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders; verify order accuracy; and compare prices and delivery dates among suppliers.
• Track and manage inventory levels for parts, equipment, and materials. Conduct regular inventory counts and report usage.
• Coordinate shipping and deliveries to and from the yard. Communicate with couriers, receive incoming freight, and prepare shipments.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier inquiries, greet visiting vendors, and source new suppliers when necessary.
• Provide general administrative support to the yard and shop team, including reviewing timecards, filing, and updating fleet logs.
• Assist in maintaining safety records, ensuring the yard remains organized, and enforcing company safety policies.
