Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree is a plus.
• 1-3 years of experience in administrative support, logistics, or yard operations.
• Strong computer skills, specifically with inventory management software, spreadsheets (Very Strong Excel is required), and email.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, and workplace safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders; verify order accuracy; compare prices and delivery dates among suppliers.
• Track and manage inventory levels for parts, equipment, and materials; conduct regular counts.
• Coordinate shipping and deliveries to and from the yard; communicate with couriers and recipients.
• Serve as the primary contact for supplier inquiries; greet visiting vendors; source new suppliers.
• Provide general administrative support to the yard and shop team, including timecards, filing, and fleet logs.
• Assist in maintaining safety records; ensure yard remains organized; enforce safety policies.

We are looking for a Yard Administrator to join our team in Birmingham, AL! Must be organized and detail-oriented to oversee the clerical and logistical functions of our busy yard.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders; verify order accuracy; and compare prices and delivery dates among suppliers.
• Track and manage inventory levels for parts, equipment, and materials. Conduct regular inventory counts and report usage.
• Coordinate shipping and deliveries to and from the yard. Communicate with couriers, receive incoming freight, and prepare shipments.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier inquiries, greet visiting vendors, and source new suppliers when necessary.
• Provide general administrative support to the yard and shop team, including reviewing timecards, filing, and updating fleet logs.
• Assist in maintaining safety records, ensuring the yard remains organized, and enforcing company safety policies.
