Job summary

South Plains Community Action Association is seeking a specialist to guide customers toward self-sufficiency by registering in WorkinTexas (WIT) and sharing information on Workforce services. The role includes referring customers to suitable jobs and assisting employers with hiring needs.

The specialist may enter job orders in WIT, send job notifications, and provide unemployment information. Training and workshops are part of the role in a diverse community setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • Ability to understand instruction without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Register customers in WorkinTexas (WIT) and provide information on Workforce services.
  • Refer customers to jobs based on experience and skills.
  • Possibly contact employers to assist with hiring needs.
  • Enter job orders into WorkinTexas for employers and send job notifications.
  • Provide basic unemployment information to individuals seeking to file for benefits.
  • Facilitate RESEA Orientation and ensure RESEA applications are entered into WIT.
  • Assist customers in the resource room with WIT applications, resumes, and job searches.
  • Facilitate workshops.
