Job summary

South Plains Community Action Association is seeking a WIOA Case Manager to guide adults and dislocated workers toward self-sufficiency. You will engage in outreach, participate in job fairs, visit area colleges, and share information to recruit potential customers while coordinating comprehensive case management.

Responsibilities include eligibility assessment, skills evaluation, and provision of supportive services.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED; a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • Experience or training in social work, counseling, career planning, placement, or related field desired.
  • Knowledge of workforce programs such as WIOA, TANF, SNAP E&T, ES/UI; familiar with federal, state, and local laws.

Job description

Works with WIOA Adult/Dislocated customers to provide direction in developing the best and quickest route to self-sufficiency. Primary duty will be to perform outreach activities in search of potential WIOA customers. Will participate in job fairs, attend organization meetings, visit area colleges and universities, providing information to potential customers. Will conduct case management activities and provide supportive services to eligible customers. Will be responsible for ensuring that all WIOA program goals and objectives are met in a timely manner. The case manager will perform the following: Program eligibility application process, skills assessments as needed and manage the provision of supportive services issued to eligible customers. The case manager will work with other programs staff to co-enroll customers when possible. The case manager will document case management activities and services provided to customers in WorkinTexas. Must have computer experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or GED is required. A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted for a degree. Training experience in social work, counseling, career planning, placement, or related field desired.

Preferred experience in data entry, state data systems, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Knowledge in Workforce programs ideal, including: WIOA, TANF, SNAP E&T, ES/UI - familiar with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use the Internet and Microsoft Office products. Keyboarding skills are mandatory. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of community resources and case management principles, including Objectives, standards, and methods. Familiar with structured program policies and procedures. Ability to assess customer needs, provide guidance to other staff, and assist with various case management activities. Ability to accurately calculate income levels. Ability to analyze participants’ documents to determine eligibility. Ability to read and interpret eligibility requirements. Ability to properly administer and score assessment instruments.

Knowledge of, or ability to, learn and use WorkInTexas, and other automated reporting software/systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Ability to make frequent visits to the homes of assigned customers, and training provider sites, where appropriate. Ability to communicate professionally, and effectively, with customers, vendors, administration, and other employees. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to travel within service area.
