Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, insurance, risk management, marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
• 3-5 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience preferred, with workers compensation underwriting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing agency relationships, producer pipelines, territory plans, or assigned books of business preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of workers compensation underwriting, including exposure analysis, loss history review, and pricing.
• Professional insurance designation such as CPCU/ARM/CIC preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Owns an assigned agency territory and book of business, with accountability for profitable new business production and renewal retention.
• Evaluates workers compensation submissions by analyzing class codes, exposures, payroll, loss runs, and risk factors.
• Makes underwriting decisions within authority and escalates risks that exceed levels or require leadership review.
• Prices new and renewal business in line with guidelines while balancing growth, profitability, retention, and producer relationships.
• Develops agency partnership plans, including targets, pipeline, and profitability opportunities.
• Conducts regular agency visits and producer meetings to communicate appetite and service expectations.
• Identifies opportunities to expand profitable workers compensation production through distribution channels.
• Presents proposals to agency personnel with clear underwriting decisions and pricing rationale.
• Maintains knowledge of the assigned territory including competitor activity and regulatory considerations.
• Partners with leadership, claims, loss control, and operations to support account performance and service standards.
• Provides high level of service to stakeholders with accurate documentation and policy adherence.
