Job summary

CBIZ is seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Director to lead a complex, high-volume payroll and union workforce environment. This hands-on leader will bridge HRIS, payroll, and business operations, owning configuration, reporting, security, testing, and ongoing optimization.

The role partners with HR and payroll leaders to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions, guide go-lives, and transition knowledge in-house as a key internal SME for the platform.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on Workday experience with multiple go-lives.
• Strong Workday HCM knowledge and payroll expertise.
• Experience with configuration, business processes, reporting, security, and admin.
• Ability to translate business requirements into Workday solutions.
• Experience with weekly payrolls and union workforce preferred.
• Ability to train/transition knowledge in-house.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior internal Workday SME for go-lives and ongoing admin.
• Own Workday administration and configuration with HR/payroll leaders.
• Support Workday HCM, payroll, time and attendance, absence.
• Configure business processes, workflows, reports, security roles, and access.
• Translate requirements into scalable Workday configurations.
• Partner with payroll leadership to support a high-volume payroll environment.
• Participate in requirements gathering, testing, UAT, data validation.
• Prepare organization for go-live and post-implementation stabilization.
• Manage testing and system updates.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reporting.
• Coordinate with external implementation partners as needed.
• Train and develop internal HR/payroll users.
