Job summary

The Calais School in New Jersey is seeking a Work-Based Learning Coordinator to oversee the WBL experience program for students with disabilities, ensuring alignment with NJDOE regulations and community-based opportunities. The role focuses on curriculum design, scheduling, placement decisions, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

You will supervise student training plans, work with job coaches, bus coordination, and ensure IEP integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required.
• Certification as NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped, and Work-Based Learning Coordinator credentials are required.
• Experience in a similar position in special education is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to support student learning and transition needs.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
• Familiarity with NJDOE regulations for work-based learning programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the WBL experience program for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with the Supervisor to improve curriculum and sequencing of WBL, CBI, and transition services.
• Plan placements, design WBL schedules, arrange transportation, and supervise job coaches.
• Ensure compliance with NJDOE requirements for community-based WBL activities.
• Provide supervision and support at community-based job sites with assessments and training.
• Engage with departments to coordinate each student’s transition needs and IEP alignment.
• Participate in IEP meetings and transition planning for Transition Program students.
• Develop and enforce behavior modification programs with job coaches.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
