Job summary

ISD 622 in Minnesota is seeking a Work Based Learning Coordinator to lead and coordinate WBL programs for students with disabilities. You will teach Work-Based Learning Seminar courses, supervise On-the-Job Training, and manage documentation for training plans, safety, and evaluations.

You will collaborate with case managers, school counselors, and community partners to create appropriate course options, support Pre-ETS, and ensure compliance with IEP goals and district policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in a special education field and Minnesota Teacher/Coordinator of Work-Based Learning license.
• Experience teaching multi-categorical groups of students with disabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
• Experience with due process procedures.
• Knowledge of career and technical education opportunities for students in the district.
• Experience working with community-based agencies, including Vocational Rehabilitation Services eligibility and referral processes.
• Knowledge and experience working with business partners.
• Knowledge of The Minnesota Olmstead Plan, Workforce Investment Opportunities Act, and issues impacting individuals with disabilities in employment settings as they relate to The World's Best Workforce Bill (2013) in Minnesota.
• Training and experience with comprehensive person-centered practices.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
• Experience with successful conflict resolution.
• Training and experience in behavior management and crisis response.

Responsibilities

• Teach Work-Based Learning Seminar Courses including direct instruction to students receiving special education services and assist them with attaining their IEP goals and objectives and Transition Activities.
• Coordinate and supervise On-the-Job Training opportunities for students both on-and-off campus.
• Complete and maintain accurate Work-Based Learning documentation, including Training Agreements, Training Plans, Certificate of Liability Insurance, Student Performance Evaluations, record keeping, site observations, seminar requirements, safety training, etc.
• Foster and maintain partnerships with vocational rehabilitation services and coordinate Pre-Employment Transition Services in the school setting.
• Facilitate career exploration through individualized study options, job shadows, informational interviews and vocational experiences with businesses.
• Address barriers to employment such as transportation or training needs.
• Direct the work of job coach paraprofessionals to support students in school and community settings.
• Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with case managers to develop vocational goals.
• Collaborate with building principals and counselors to identify at-risk students for Work-Based Learning programs.
• Advocate for needs of students with disabilities and potential dropouts in school and community settings.
• Implement proactive Behavioral Intervention Plans in worksites and learning opportunities.
• Maintain data to monitor progress and communicate with case managers and families.
• Complete grading and progress reports per goals and Transition Activities.
• Adhere to due process guidelines in evaluation and eligibility decisions.
• Coordinate work-based learning opportunities for students with identified needs and manage service coordination.
• Maintain compliance with state and federal rules governing Work-Based Learning Programs.
