Job summary

Sterlington PLLC is seeking a Patent Attorney to draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications in cellular and wireless tech, collaborating with inventors and in-house counsel to build robust portfolios.

You will coordinate foreign prosecution, respond to Office Actions, meet deadlines, and work with partners on strategy and client counseling, with significant responsibility and direct client interaction. Qualified candidates will hold a J.D., be registered to practice before the USPTO, and

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school; transcript required.
• Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Approximately 2–5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience with cellular and wireless technologies preferred (3GPP, LTE, 5G, 6G, RF, etc.).
• Excellent patent drafting and technical writing skills; ability to translate complex concepts into defensible patent claims.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Experience with AI-enabled legal tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving wireless technologies and related fields.
• Coordinate foreign patent prosecution with international counsel.
• Prepare responses to Office Actions and manage deadlines.
• Work directly with inventors and in-house counsel to understand new technologies and develop patent protection.
• Collaborate on patent strategy, portfolio development, and client counseling.
• Analyze disclosures, standards, and prior art to shape prosecution strategies.
• Manage matters independently with high standards and oversight.
