Job summary

BearCom is seeking a Field Service Technician II to install and support wireless communications systems across North America. You will be responsible for hands-on installation, service, and programming, ensuring customer needs are met with imaginative, reliable solutions. Extensive on-the-job training is provided.

The role requires strong electronics knowledge, RF theory, and experience with test equipment. Regional travel and on-call hours may be required, along with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of service technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation across frequency bands.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Proficiency with test equipment including spectrum analyzers, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters.
• Valid driver’s license; background checks are part of the hiring process.
• Security clearance preferred; (geography dependent).

Responsibilities

• Install and service wireless communications equipment (UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz, DAS/BDA systems).
• Create mid-level programming codeplugs (12+ channels, trunking, multiple zones).
• Travel regionally and/or overnight; participate in on-call rotations.
• Recommend equipment and hardware meeting customer requirements.
