Job summary

Kroger in Irving, TX is seeking team members for the wine department to create an outstanding customer experience. You will help customers, answer questions about wine and related products, and support the department manager in meeting goals while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires knowledge of wine varieties, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, the flavor profiles and how they are made.
Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the consumer.
Experience working with wine and beer.
Retail experience.
High school education or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions; suggest items.
Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
Inform customers of wine specials.
Provide customers with requested products and help with pairing wine and other items.
Collaborate with store chef for wine tastings and programs featuring wines.
Stay current with ads and promotions; maintain proper temperature logs.
Assist with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
