Job summary

Audubon Internship Career seeks a Wind Turbine Major Component Exchange Technician to perform large component exchanges and routine maintenance at wind turbine sites. You will disassemble and assemble major components, inspect systems, and coordinate with engineering for diagnostics while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Travel to remote client sites is expected; climbing up to 300 feet and maintaining OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, and CPR/AED certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• GWO Basic Safety Training is preferred.
• At least one year of experience around heavy equipment is preferred.
• Able to read and interpret safety regs, assembly/disassembly, operation and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations daily across electrical, mechanical or balance-of-plant equipment.
• Repair or replace mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical components to correct malfunctions.
• Perform large component exchanges on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG).
• Conduct maintenance of equipment (cleaning, greasing, lubrication).
• Lead or assist with daily site operations with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate with engineering support for troubleshooting/diagnostic assistance.
• Complete and maintain documentation using electronic service reporting tools.
• Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work area; handle spills.
• Operate a motor vehicle safely per company policy.
• Maintain certifications such as OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED (First Aid).
• Perform torqueing/tensioning of bolted connections per manuals and torque specs.
• Test electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components and systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions.
• Provide 1st aid and assist with tower rescues as needed.
