Job summary

NextEra Energy is seeking a Wind Field Service Technician II – Major Components to perform large component replacements on wind turbines across the fleet. The role requires traveling frequently, working at heights over 300 feet, and coordinating crane operations with strict safety standards.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment, and a willingness to work weekends, nights, and extended hours while contributing to fleet reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in industrial or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Experience performing complex maintenance or repairs in challenging environments.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the fleet and work weekends/nights/extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively across the company fleet, often with little notice.
• Perform large corrective maintenance and major component replacements on wind turbine generators.
• Execute precision mechanical work: replacement, torquing, alignment, fastener verification.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems on wind turbines.
• Work safely at heights >300 ft and follow fall protection rules.
• Assist crane movements during component removal/installation with rigging.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities; follow QA processes.
• Provide safety oversight and mentor others as needed.
