Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER seeks a Wind Technician to support the wind facility, supervise OEM/contractor work, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on turbines and balance of plant equipment.

The role requires climbing ability, a valid driver's license, and experience with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Travel is required; on-site work is essential for reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree in wind, electrical or mechanical technologies preferred.
• 2 years of wind industry or power plant experience.
• Valid state driver's license; climbing test must be completed.
• Experience with SCADA/power plant control systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee wind turbine start-up, operation, and shutdown; inspect equipment for reliability.
• Lead safety culture; report unsafe conditions and near misses.
• Perform mechanical, electrical and hydraulic maintenance and repairs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment using schematics and drawings.
• Maintain records, reports, and documentation for maintenance activities.
