Job summary

Kanawha WIC Office in Charleston, WV is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to support the WIC program. The role requires processing eligibility, income calculations, and client registrations in a fast-paced clinic environment.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, strong organizational skills, and excellent telephone abilities. Training is provided to screen participants and manage eWIC card loading and scheduling tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Some medical office experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to be organized and precise is necessary.
• Ability to work effectively as a team with other WIC staff and supervisors.
• Willing to participate in training to screen WIC participants for eligibility, height/weight measures, finger prick hemoglobin readings, scheduling, and other office functions as assigned.
• Excellent telephone skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs a full-performance level work in multi-step clerical / medical tasks calling for interpretation and application of office procedures, rules and regulations.
• Performs data entry and maintains client records.
• Provides orientation to clients on WIC program responsibilities and loading of eWIC benefits.
• Maintains office client schedule and processes daily appointments and reminder calls.
• Manages entry of eligibility data, income calculations and referrals to providers.
