Job summary

Valle del Sol in Phoenix is seeking a Nutrition Education Specialist to support WIC and CHNP services, assess nutritional needs, and develop care plans under supervision.

You will interview patients, determine eligibility, counsel on breastfeeding and nutrition, distribute educational materials, and coordinate with other providers.

This role requires strong communication, cultural sensitivity, reliable transportation, and a commitment to patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to work with diverse populations.
• High School Diploma/GED required; DTR or Bachelor’s degree also acceptable.
• Bachelor’s degree with WIC experience preferred; Diet Tech Registered (DTR) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist WIC patients with information and services for CHNP including WIC, FMNP, and related programs.
• Interview patients, document income and living conditions, determine eligibility for services.
• Evaluate nutrition, breastfeeding needs and health history; develop personal care plans.
• Counsel patients on nutrition and breastfeeding; provide educational materials and referrals as needed.
• Measure height/weight and collect hemoglobin testing as required.
• Maintain patient records and report program participation data.
• Assist with community outreach and special projects as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with policies.
