Job summary

Pima County Health Department, Women Infants and Children (WIC) program, is seeking a motivated Nutrition Education Specialist I to provide client-centered nutrition and breastfeeding services to program participants in Tucson. This includes conducting WIC certifications and obtaining anthropometric and hemoglobin data for participants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with a basic nutrition course or 1 year of related health/nutrition experience.
• One year with Pima County in a Public Health Aide or related position per recruitment.
• Qualifying education and experience must be documented in the application.

Responsibilities

• Collect health history and nutrition status data to determine eligibility for government nutrition programs.
• Obtain anthropometric measurements (height/weight) and enter data for risk assessment and education planning.
• Conduct capillary finger punctures for hemoglobin screening and document results.
• Instruct clients on policies, procedures, and food benefit packages.
• Maintain security and inventory of food benefit supplies.
• Document services in electronic client files and care plans.
• Refer clients to other agencies for additional assistance.
• Assist in nutrition classes and office operations as needed.
