Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is actively seeking an Underwriting Specialist Specialty – Merit Specialty (Wholesale) to join our E&S Casualty underwriting team. This full-time role supports wholesale trading partners, underwriting and selling new and renewal specialty accounts that align with our appetite and growth goals.

The position may be hybrid or fully remote across the US (excluding NY & CA). Ideal candidates bring 3–7+ years in Specialty or commercial lines, strong analytical and sales

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Generally, 3–7+ years Specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3–4+ years’ experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Technical Underwriting: apply underwriting concepts, pricing, exposure and loss analysis to ensure guidelines are followed.
• Portfolio Management: manage portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability and growth goals.
• Sales Management: identify, solicit, pipeline, negotiate, and close accounts while building strong agency relationships.
