Job summary

Common Market Co-op in Frederick, MD is seeking an experienced Wellness Department Manager to lead daily operations and drive sales in a cooperative retail setting.

You will manage budgets, staff, merchandising, and inventory while upholding co-op values and promoting natural foods. Excellent communication and leadership are essential to coordinate with the Wellness Manager and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in wellness environment (Supplements, Body care and/or nutrition).
• Minimum 1 year experience in retail management, purchasing, merchandising, and/or personnel supervision.
• Familiarity with natural foods.
• Ability to think strategically and plan ahead.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Protects store assets by participating in periodic inventory, following security practices and handling injuries/incidents to minimize liability.
• Reviews financial reports of department performance and assists Wellness Manager in meeting targets.
• Ensures inventory and supplies are adequate for daily demand, high-sales days, and special events.
• Coordinates with Wellness Manager and Staff to allocate labor to meet department margin and labor goals.
• Oversees sale changes and department resets, communicating plans for promotions and new items to staff.
• Leads department meetings and trainings as directed by the Wellness Manager.
• Maintains product rotation and accurate promotional signage.
• Maintains high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
