Job summary

Komatsu Mining is seeking a Welder (Shop) to join our onsite team in a multi-location position. You will perform carbon arc gouging and FCAW welding, read weld symbols, set up components, and work with overhead cranes and precision measuring tools to ensure high-quality repairs and fabrication.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on welding experience, the ability to pass a 1G-4G FCAW certification within 90 days, and a strong commitment to safety in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on welding with carbon arc gouging and FCAW.
• Ability to read weld symbols, prints and blueprints.
• Able to pass a 1G-4G FCAW certification test within 90 days.
• Strong safety practices in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in carbon arc gouging and oxy/fuel torch operations for precise metal cutting and prep.
• Interpret weld symbols and read technical prints and blueprints accurately.
• Operate rigging equipment and overhead cranes with safety and certification compliance.
• Fit and layout components before welding to ensure accuracy.
• Use diverse welding electrodes and adapt to different materials and specs.
• Perform carbon arc gouging with precision for high-quality repairs and fabrication.
• Aim to achieve weld certifications per Komatsu Quality standards.
• Apply trade math for measurements and fabrication calculations.
• Interpret complex drawings, specs, charts and formulas for project accuracy.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances during setup.
• Maintain and analyze reports and records for data-driven teamwork.
• Read machinist measurement tools for quality control.
• Engage in ongoing welding training to stay current with industry practices.
