Job summary

LaForce in Green Bay, WI seeks an experienced Weld Lead to oversee the Frame Welding Shop. You will balance hands-on MIG/GMAW welding with team leadership, planning daily production activities, while upholding safety and exacting quality standards.

Lead responsibilities include mentoring welders, driving Lean manufacturing improvements, and coordinating with other departments to keep schedules tight and issues resolved.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership of a welding team in a production setting.
  • Proficient MIG/GMAW welding and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to read shop drawings, work orders, and specs.
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing and process improvements.

Job description

Are you a skilled Welder with a talent for leadership and a passion for precision? We're looking for an experienced professional to Lead our Frame Welding Shop and contribute to the success of our production team!

As the Weld Lead, you'll balance hands-on welding expertise with team leadership responsibilities. Your role will involve planning, organizing, and driving daily production activities while maintaining high safety and quality standards. You'll also play a key part in fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Coordinate: Oversee daily welding operations, ensuring production schedules are met efficiently.
  • Hands-On Welding: Fit, weld, and grind light-gauge sheet metal door frames with precision.
  • Process Improvement: Implement solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Training & Development: Mentor team members to enhance skills and maintain high performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to align schedules and address issues.
  • Safety & Quality: Uphold a safe work environment and ensure all work meets exacting quality standards.
Qualifications

We're seeking a dependable leader with the following:

  • Strong welding experience, including MIG/GMAW and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and a track record of process improvement.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) and relevant hands-on experience.
